East Media Group
Miroslav Bogicevic was behind this company when it bought 50% of Politika from WAZ. As а businessman he was closely connected to the Democratic Party but after their fall from power and his arrest, Bogicevic changed sides and started to talk against the Democratic Party, mostly in pro-government media. Today, it is not clear who is behind East Media Group. In 2014, the Commission for Protection of Competition temporarily banned East Media Group from trading its shares in Politika novine i magazini, while in 2015 the Commission imposed a penalty of 143.500 euros on East Media Group and referred the case to the State Attorney’s Office. As the Commission for Protection of Competition explained in its press release, these steps were taken "because of the reasonable grounds for suspecting that when purchasing the 50% share in the company ‘Politika novine i magazini’ from Belgrade, a concentration of ownership was established for which approval from the Commission was not obtained in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Protection of Competition". According to Center for Investigative Journalism in 2018 Russian authorities started process of dissolving East Media Group.
