Politika AD
Politika AD was founded in 1998 as a joint-stock company owned and controlled by the State. Politika AD was the sole publisher of Politika, before WAZ Media Group bought a 50% stake in 2001. Today, the Republic of Serbia is a direct shareholder of 18.5% of stake in the company, but it controls 85% through various state institutions and public companies such as the Republic Fund for Pension and Disability Insurance (that hold 29.4% of Politika AD), Shareholding fund that operates within Ministry of Finance (10%) and The Republic Fund for Health Insurance (10%). The remaining 15% is owned by NLB Bank (1,2%), AIK bank (0.8%) and more than 6.400 various individuals that each own less than 0,7%. This company has been in a financial blockade for years.
The Ministry of Economy submitted an initiative for the privatisation of this company in 2013. In November 2016, by decision of the Commercial Court in Belgrade, the sale of this company's property was prohibited and an administrative receiver was appointed.
Today, Politika AD publishes several specialised magazines, as well as Ilustrovana Politika. In the past few years, this magazine has been in the public focus several times due to attacks on independent media, journalists and members of the Commission for Investigation of Murders of Journalists. These attacks came from former media people from the 1990s, and after the publication of the text "Dogs are unleashed" targeting independent media, Suzana Vasiljević, advisor to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, resigned from the supervisory board of Politika AD.
In 2021, this company sold the business services building in Bulevar Despota Stefana to Severna Morava.
