Veljko Lalić started his career in journalism in the daily newspaper Večernje Novosti. Later, he transferred to the daily newspaper Press, where he was the editor-in-chief. In August 2012, a few months before the closure of Press, he founded the company NIP Nedeljnik. The Nedeljnik magazine was originally published on a weekly basis as a supplement to the Press newspaper, and then as an independent weekly magazine. NIP Nedeljnik founded the Nedeljnik Foundation in mid-2020, in which Lalić is the chairman of the board of directors.

In the same year, under unclear circumstances, the then Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin, publicly commented on the content of the text that Dragan Šutanovac offered to Nedeljnik for publication, but which was never published. That is why Nedeljnik in a statement publicly asked Minister Vulin where he got the content of the e-mails that Lalić exchanged with Šutanovac and whether the secret services were intercepting the communications, but that case remained without an epilogue.

Since 2022, Lalić is the owner of the company TCT News and Entertainment, registered in Ljubljana (Slovenia), which is the publisher of the internet portal velikeprice.com.

Lalić was the publisher of the Serbian edition of the New York Times, and he is still the publisher of the Serbian edition of le Monde Diplomatique.

In cooperation with the Djokovic Foundation, he launched the Original magazine.

He is the author of five books, the most famous of those being on Duke Pavle, March 27 and Zoran Đinđić.
